My dear children in Christ,
Jesus tells us something both challenging and hopeful in Luke’s Gospel.
He describes signs that will appear in the sun, moon, and stars, with people becoming frightened by what’s happening on Earth. But don’t let this worry you!
Jesus wants us to stand tall and lift our heads high because these signs mean He’s coming back to save us.
He lovingly warns us to stay alert and not get too caught up in distractions.
Think of it like preparing for a special guest – we want to be ready!
Through prayer and mindful living, we can face His return with joy rather than fear.
I invite you today to take a moment each morning this week to say a simple prayer: “Lord, help me stay watchful and ready for your coming.” Let’s prepare our hearts together for His glorious return.
Your shepherd in Christ’s love,
The Most Reverend ++Sean Alexander, DD, OSB
